The Sassafras Tree is so interesting...
Specimens have been found that are 1,000 years old.
It reproduces easily by root sprouts and have a rooting habit that is lateral, interconnected and a complex network,
The bar twigs and leaves are important foods for wildlife.
Tea is brewed from the bark of roots
The leaves come out in three shapes ...football, glove and with three lobes (see above photo)
Crush the leaves in your hand, to release the amazing scent that is used to perfume soaps.
The wood is used for buckets, posts, furniture and boats.
And my favorite tidbit: The Sassafras tree is considered to be beneficial in replenished weary soils.
They have been used right here in Illinois and Indiana to restore the soil in old fields.
This full moon celebration is anticipating two of our favorite Holidays; Thanksgiving and Christmas. We will experience a grounding KiVo celebration so taht we can approach these days ahead by taking good care of ourselves and our connection with earth and each other. Taking a lesson from the Sassafras roots, we can be a replenishing force in the soil of our loved ones hearts with our care gratitude and generosity.
We will concentrate on teh Root and the Heart in movement and voice, and also repeat some of the KiVo we learned last time. It's easy to learn, and we practice all the steps. All levels of mobility are welcome as it is possible to participate from a chair.
As with any movement class, it is important to follow and listen to the wisdom of your body.
