Clearing out, letting go and getting settled has been the theme in our home environment these last few months. The clearing out is ongoing...it takes diligence! I was in Florida for several weeks in September finishing up some details and having the luxury of time to research and study.
I’ve been reading Laudato Si, Pope Francis’ encyclical about caring for our earth home and the people and species that we share it with. These elegant words in Chapter Three entitled The Mystery of the Universe, paragraph 83 would make a great daily meditation:
“Creation is of the order of love. God’s love is the fundamental moving force in all created things . . .In this universe, shaped by open and intercommunicating systems, we can discern countless forms of relationship and participation. This leads us to think of the whole as open to God’s transcendence, within which it develops. Faith allows us to interpret the meaning and the mysterious beauty of what is unfolding. We are free to apply our intelligence towards things evolving positively, or towards adding new ills, new causes of suffering and real setbacks. This is what makes for the excitement and drama of human history, in which freedom, growth, salvation and love can blossom, or lead towards decadence and mutual destruction.”

How We Treat One Another Matters:
Attachment Theory Calls Forth Healing With Self, Others, and God
This is a one day version of The Attachment Retreat that was offered in June. If you missed it, you'll want to sign up!
Monday , October 26th 8:30-4:30 pm
Facilitators: Char Dillon, PhD and Carol Cummins
Created for Relationship
“From the moment we are born, we continue to be shaped by our involvement in networks of
relationships. As we grow older and progressively come to understand about choice, our personal identity continues to grow from our conscious commitments – especially commitments to people. To be a person means being in relationship.”— Befriending our Desires by Philip Sheldrake
This workshop is grounded within a Christian theological lens of the Trinity, which represents "God in Community." Thus, our lives are birthed from the Loving Relationship within the Godhead and for Loving Relationships here on earth. Our focus will be on learning and using the language and paradigms of attachment theory to call forth healthier relationships with self, others and God in the service of excavating a more vigorous and peaceful “yes” to life.
This workshop is both didactic and experiential. Participants will learn and explore:
• The origins and characteristics of secure and insecure attachment styles
• The dynamics of one’s personal attachments responses • How one’s attachment style may have informed one’s calling and life choices
• Ways in which one’s attachment responses get projected into our images of God
Recommended for Spiritual Directors. Cost: $90

I'm excited to share the news of the new book by Katherine Woodward Thomas, Conscious Uncoupling, released on September 22, and is #9 on the New York Times Bestseller List. ( October 11th issue)
As a person that experienced the big overwhelming emotions that come with a Divorce or breakup, this is a concept whose time has come. I was determined to make something beautiful of the experience, so in early November, I will be taking the certified Coaches training in Conscious Uncoupling, taught by Katherine Woodward Thomas.
Knowing how sad breakups can be, I look forward to making a contribution to a new more honorable and kind way of handling breakups that helps everyone heal and move forward. In the same way that we wouldn't let "time" heal a cavity causing tooth pain, we need to support healing from breakups in a purposeful way.
