I’ve launched a website to let you know about the work I am doing. If you submit your name (opt in) to get my monthly words of encouragement, you will receive the calligraphy image that is featured in this reflection. It seems fitting that Love be the topic of this very first blog.
Love… a word that has so many meanings, and most of all, I believe, it’s what we came here to experience and give. It’s what life is all about. When we strip away all the busyness of our lives, it’s what we most yearn for and most desire. It’s a little tricky though, because to really experience Love and receive Love, we must become really good at being vulnerable… to be known deeply.
That’s the scary part…it’s just not easy to be really honest, we may be afraid of being judged or rejected, shamed or betrayed, especially by some of our own inner voices. What a sad thing it would be, to get to the end of our lives and maybe never risk really being known in a deep way… especially by ourselves. Sometimes it’s actually hardest to get to know ourselves. This is truly where love begins.
The Worthy Goal
It is possible to be a clear mirror
through which others see a reflection
of their true worth. It is possible to
love others without condition. This only
becomes possible when we no longer
take anything personally, when there is
no need to defend against or blame another,
when there is no desire to teach a lesson
or correct a choice, when we listen carefully
for the full meaning and respond with kindness
and understanding; then unconditional love,
the worthy goal of a lifetime, is blossoming.

In your quiet moments of prayer or meditation, I invite you to think about a mirror of “kind regard” that you can hold up to yourself, so that Love may begin to blossom in your heart this Spring.
